SUMMARY:Sylvestre Kabassidi
DESCRIPTION:Sylvestre Samba Kabassidi is a rebel with a sensitive soul. His music breaks stereotypes and takes African song in new directions\, yet universal and sophisticated but rooted in tradition. Born in Pointe-Noire\, the Congo Republic\, the coast is not the only similarity Sylvestre finds between Pointe-Noire and Cape Town which he calls his adoptive home. \n\n\n\nHis passion for music began in his childhood at a very early age\, surrounded by beautiful melodies from home and the outside world. Sylvestre started feeling the influence of music and its sounds that make people experience passion\, joy\, peace\, happiness and love\, when chosen to participate in a professional album recording. \n\n\n\nSylvestre sings in French\, Lari\, English\, and some Afrikaans\, and represents a new generation of African artists who emphasise fragile melodies and poetic lyrics\, rather than super-produced floor burners. Armed with acoustic guitar accompanied by percussions and rich vocals\, Sylvestre is part of a quiet revolution in African music. \n\n\n\nThis is passionate and expressive music\, cosmopolitan\, yet simple in arrangement but rich in sentiment. His lyrics\, voice\, music and presence will move you from the inside out. \n\n\n\nSylvestre has sang as part of the Koko Novo Movie Band. \n\n\n\nHe has also had great collaborations with \n\n\n\nJason Tamba from Playing for ChangeStef BosNeo MuyangaFreddy MassambaRodriguez VangamaIshmael LoYoussou NdourMsakiBuddy WellsAmanda StrydomZolani (Freshlyground) \n\n\n\n\nhttps://kabassidi.com/bio\n\n\n\n\nDoors open at 6pm and show starts at 8pm

SUMMARY:Nala Collective at Selective Live
DESCRIPTION: Nala collective was created to showcase and support women instrumentalists in Cape Town\, providing a safe space for them to thrive. While not accepting anyone who aligns or supports inappropriate attitudes toward women\, they turn their focus to performing music by South African women composers\, who are often underrepresented despite their remarkable talent. However\, they are also open to playing works by artists like Esperanza Spalding and others. \n\n\n\nThis features a rotating lineup of vocalists because there are so many talented female singers to work with. This approach isn’t to undermine anyone’s talent but to offer more artists an opportunity to shine and be heard. \n\n\n\ndoors open at 6pm
