I’m raised in Cape town but originally from Eastern cape Elibode in a small village called eThembeni. I live in a township called eMfuleni. I am a Singer\, rapper and song writer. I do Afro jazz\, Afro pop\, pop and hip hop music. I have one released song on SoundCloud named ‘Question Mark’ featuring Nkululeko Dyantyi and I’m currently working on my first E.P. that I plan to release in August this year. DESCRIPTION:Def Eff (short for Definitely Efficient) is a Cape Town–based performance artist\, lyricist and sonic curator. His work lives at the intersection of hip-hop\, jazz and live experience. \n\n\n\nRooted in sharp wordplay and layered musicality\, his practice extends beyond recording. It moves into embodied storytelling\, where rhythm\, language and presence converge. \n\n\n\nKnown for his commanding stage presence and emotionally resonant delivery\, Def Eff crafts performances that move between intensity and introspection. Backed by a live jazz band\, his shows dissolve the boundaries of traditional hip-hop. Each set becomes a dynamic\, genre-blending composition that honours the culture while expanding its possibilities. \n\n\n\nOriginally from Mthatha in the Eastern Cape\, he relocated to Cape Town in 2005 to study film. This influence continues to shape his cinematic approach to music and performance. His work explores themes of love\, identity and the human condition. It is delivered with a maturity that resonates across generations and cultural backgrounds. \n\n\n\nWith a growing catalogue and a meticulous commitment to both sonic and visual quality\, Def Eff is carving out a distinctive lane.
