SUMMARY:Nala Collective at Selective Live
DESCRIPTION: Nala collective was created to showcase and support women instrumentalists in Cape Town\, providing a safe space for them to thrive. While not accepting anyone who aligns or supports inappropriate attitudes toward women\, they turn their focus to performing music by South African women composers\, who are often underrepresented despite their remarkable talent. However\, they are also open to playing works by artists like Esperanza Spalding and others. \n\n\n\nThis features a rotating lineup of vocalists because there are so many talented female singers to work with. This approach isn’t to undermine anyone’s talent but to offer more artists an opportunity to shine and be heard. \n\n\n\ndoors open at 6pm

DESCRIPTION:Sylvestre Samba Kabassidi is a rebel with a sensitive soul. His music breaks stereotypes and takes African song in new directions\, yet universal and sophisticated but rooted in tradition. Born in Pointe-Noire\, the Congo Republic\, the coast is not the only similarity Sylvestre finds between Pointe-Noire and Cape Town which he calls his adoptive home. \n\n\n\nHis passion for music began in his childhood at a very early age\, surrounded by beautiful melodies from home and the outside world. His lyrics\, voice\, music and presence will move you from the inside out. \n\n\n\nSylvestre has sang as part of the Koko Novo Movie Band. \n\n\n\nHe has also had great collaborations with \n\n\n\nJason Tamba from Playing for ChangeStef BosNeo MuyangaFreddy MassambaRodriguez VangamaIshmael LoYoussou NdourMsakiBuddy WellsAmanda StrydomZolani (Freshlyground) \n\n\n\n\nhttps://kabassidi.com/bio\n\n\n\n\nDoors open at 6pm and show starts at 8pm

SUMMARY:James Sweetnam live
DESCRIPTION:James Sweetnam is a singer\, guitarist and producer based in Cape Town\, South Africa. He grew up in a small\, quiet town nestled in a valley\, named Greyton.  \n\n\n\nIt was not until he started university that he found his love for music. One of his roommates introduced him to the world of music and sound engineering. Then\, as Covid-19 locked the world down he picked up an old guitar and found the passion for which he was always searching. \n\n\n\nSince then he has not looked back. He has written\, recorded and produced all of his own music and crafted a unique sound on his journey into telling stories through his writing. He served his musical apprenticeship playing lead guitar for the rising Afrikaans music star “Tino”\, with whom he toured the country.                                                                                                                                                                                                                       \n\n\n\nHis style blends elements of folk\, jazz and alternative indie music for an immersive lyrical and sonic experience.
