SUMMARY:Selective Live rooftop Live Music experience with Bheki Khoza
DESCRIPTION:Bheki Khoza is the well-known left handed guitarist from Umlazi\, Durban\, South Africa. In 1991 he received a Talent Award and scholarship to study music in America. He returned in 1995 from studying at the University of Hartford\, Connecticut\, with the great Jackie McClean\, on of the few living legends. \n\n\n\nSome of the musicians he held the opportunity to play with included Kenny Barron\, Hilton Ruiz\, Kirk Ligtsey\, Cecil McBee\, Virgil Jones\, Charlces Davis and Steve Davis\, who now Anarchy\, a jam club for African music\, in particular. Gigs stemming from the African connection included backing vocalist FLoxy Bee from Nigeria and Thuli Dumakude\, a singer from South Africa\, of Mabatha Fame. \n\n\n\nPrior to studying in America\, Bheki played with the African Jazz Pioneers\, Abie Cindi\, Sipho Gumede\, Winston Mankunku Ngozi\, Rene McClean\, Victor Ntoni\, Mike Makhalemala\, George Lee\, and Berry Rachabane\, among others. He also backed South Africa’s famous songbirds\, Sibongile Khumalo\, Sophic Mgina\, Dolly Rathebe\, Abigail Kubheka\, and Themi Mtshani. During this time Bheki also had his own band Thayima\, which played jazz and African music directly addressing the social conditions of the late 1980’s for this reason the band was never recorded. \n\n\n\nDoors open at 3pm and show starts at 6pm.

DESCRIPTION:Thandikhaya Magayiyana\, stage name Joliza Bhacasoul\, born on the 30th August 1991 in Gqeberha is a singer-songwriter with \n\n\n\nstrong family roots from Emawusheni Village KwaBhaca\, formerly known as Mount Frere in the Old Transkei Homeland. He \n\n\n\nhas spent years honing his craft to produce his Bhacasoul sound which integrates his Bhaca heritage sounds\, igwijo and \n\n\n\ncontemporary musical elements. He started experimenting with music in 2005 and since then he has been composing and \n\n\n\nindependently releasing his own music from locally produced singles\, EPs and albums some of which has been played on \n\n\n\nnational radio stations such as Radio 2000\, Umhlobo Wenene FM and TruFM and on local radio stations like KQFM and \n\n\n\nBayFM.. Joliza released his first commercial project titled“Bhacasoul Experience” on the 5th of May 2023. A 5– song EP \n\n\n\ndistributed through Platoon. Although his music reflects some elements of Afro soul\, jazz and maskandi\, Joliza calls his music \n\n\n\nBhaca soul music\, a genre which leans more on traditional Bhaca rhythm elements of“ukucwiya” (spiritual singing)\,“ukuvalela” \n\n\n\n(spiritual humming) and“ukusina” (spiritual dancing).

Red Button started rapping in 2005\, however took it upon himself to make a career out of his \n\n\n\npassion for the rhymes and flow in 2007. Within Slaghuis and 1808 days of rap sessions in 2008\, his \n\n\n\nfirst taste of the industry began when his talent was exposed to the likes of Teargas and Pro. The album featured likes of PRO\, K.O\, J.R and Bricks\, Jack Parrow\, Stan1 and \n\n\n\nGerman DJ Leo Large. He Produced 80% of the tracks in the album including the smash hit \n\n\n\n“Shikisha”. Not only is Red Button a talented rapper he has a gift of producing hits. He produced \n\n\n\nthe smash hit “Makasana”\, for his mentor Pro and was subsequently nominated for Producer of the \n\n\n\nyear in 2012 at the South African Hip Hop Awards. He also produced other hit single for other \n\n\n\nindustry heavy weights like\, Dj Dimplez\, Dj Sabby\, Dj Capital\, Ntukza (Teargas) and Zakwe.
